"Quarantine"

This project addresses the unintentional consequences of human globalization resulting in the destruction of millions of ash trees around the United States. Emerald Ash Borer is a native Asian insect that traveled to the US via wood packing materials. EAB arrived to Boulder in 2013, threatening an estimated 100,000 trees. EABs destruction has resulted in a federal quarantine on ash wood in areas it has been detected. Although globalization has had tremendous advances for human civilization, it has also altered ecological systems an introduced invasive species into unfit environments.
